Diesel Truck ElectricalRepair in San Diego
Electrical problems are the hardest to find and the easiest to misdiagnose. LTEK provides circuit-level electrical diagnostics, wiring repair, sensor troubleshooting, and CAN bus fault tracing for commercial diesel trucks. We trace circuits — we don't guess at them.
Parasitic battery draws, intermittent faults, and phantom codes are our bread and butter. If it runs on wires, we can diagnose it.
Electrical Issues We Trace & Fix
Parasitic Battery Drain
Dead batteries overnight or over weekends. Something is drawing power when the truck is off. We isolate the circuit with amp clamp testing and trace it to the exact component — aftermarket accessories, faulty relays, or module wake-up issues.
Intermittent Fault Codes
Codes that come and go. Usually caused by loose connections, chafed wiring, corroded pins, or heat-related insulation breakdown. These are the hardest to find — and what most shops give up on. We don't.
No-Start / Hard Start
Could be batteries, starter, ignition switch, or ECM communication. We test the full starting circuit before condemning expensive components.
Charging System Failures
Low voltage, battery light, or overcharging. Alternator output testing, voltage regulator diagnosis, and wiring drop tests to find the issue.
CAN Bus Communication Errors
Multiple unrelated fault codes across different modules. Usually a J1939 CAN bus issue — backbone wiring, termination resistors, or a module pulling the bus down. We have the tools to isolate it.
ABS & Traction Control Lights
Wheel speed sensor failures, ABS module faults, and wiring issues at the axle. We read ABS-specific fault codes and test sensors before replacing.
Common Questions
Can you find intermittent electrical problems?+
Yes — this is one of our specialties. We use freeze frame data, wiggle tests, thermal inspection, and circuit monitoring to catch faults that only show up under certain conditions. Most shops can't find these. We can.
Why does my truck keep killing batteries?+
Parasitic draw — something is draining power when the truck is off. Common culprits: aftermarket accessories, faulty inverters, module wake-up cycles, or relay stuck-on conditions. We isolate the draw with amp clamp testing.
What's a CAN bus error and why does it cause multiple codes?+
The CAN bus is the communication backbone between all modules (ECM, TCM, ABS, body controller). When it has a problem — bad wiring, failed termination, or a malfunctioning module — every module on the network throws codes. We isolate which module or wiring segment is causing the issue.
Do you repair trailer electrical issues?+
Yes. Trailer lighting, ABS, and power supply circuits. 7-pin connector diagnosis, J560 wiring, and trailer ABS module testing. DOT lighting compliance repairs included.
